The First Evening
After we had arrived earlier this evening at Keflavík we did a first small tour around the Reykjanes peninsula near Hafnir. It felt good to be back! :)

This wonderful sunset was actually around midnight. ;) For the following nine days there would be hardly any real darkness at all..

Látrabjarg
Puffins!!
Látrabjarg, the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe, is one of Europe's biggest bird cliffs. The cliffs are home to millions of birds, including puffins, northern gannets, guillemots and razorbills. There I had the opportunity to take some wonderful shots of puffins which had become my favorite animal since my first visit to Iceland many years ago. :)
Did you know that a puffin’s beak is not that colorful all year round? In winter, the beak changes to a dull grey color before blooming again with a bright orange in spring!

Dynjandi Waterfall
The magnificent Dynjandi Waterfall is the biggest waterfall in the Westfjords and cascades about 100 meters down. It is 30 meters wide and widens up to 60 meters at the bottom. Fortunately the weather was really great when we visited this highlight! :)
